Gastown

Gastown
Fashionable shops are lined up along the Water street.
I like to stroll the road of red brick.

The history of Gastown :
in 1867, one of the British arrived in this land, I built a one houses a wide wilderness.
His name is John Deighton. When the village at the center of his house began to be built,
this land was named Gastown to take from "Gassy" was his nickname.
Became the Vancouver birthplace. Although the city continued to develop, and burned down by the conflagration in 1886.
Although once by the opening of the transcontinental railroad was reconstruction, again deserted In the 20th century, it had become a ghost town.
By revival plan that took place in the late 1960s, the old building was renovated in restaurants and shops, it was morphed to Vancouver representative tourist destination.
Maple Leaf Square in the east end of Gastown
There is a statue of Deighton riding in whiskey barrels. It is a popular filming spot.
It's fun to stroll the road of red brick, and visit the fashionable shops. But east of Deighton statue, the north side of the Columbia Street is one of the worst security area in Vancouver. It is not recommended to walk the area.
Harbour Centre Tower.
Stroll in the cobbled Water street toward the waterfront station. I can see from here the Harbour Centre Tower.
There are many fashionable shops in the old building. Such as clothes select shop, Scandinavian goods shops, shoe store, cafe, restaurants, souvenir shop, etc.
It is a fun town to walk. There is a steam clock of height 5.5 m Along Water Street,
it has sounded around the whistle every 15 minutes.
