Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum : Studio Ghibli Exhibition

Studio Ghibli exhibition has been held for a limited time in the museum.
It focuses the spotlight on various buildings that appear to Studio Ghibli work.
Three-dimensional works, such as miniature, such as the building of setting material background, picture, art materials that appear in the movie have been exhibited.
This area is the photography ban.

A lot of art materials and background picture has been decorated on the wall.
It will continue with "The Wind Rises," "Memories of Marnie," "Ponyo", "The Secret World of Arrietty", "Poppy Hill", "Tales from Earthsea"...As you proceed the recent work zone, there is Heidi huge diorama from the hut to the town at the foot of the "Heidi". It is a large diorama in the second in this three-dimensional works. Also running train in the town at the foot.

There are 7 three-dimensional works. "Arrietty's house" " diorama of Heidi" " Guchokipan shop (Kiki's Delivery Service)" " Mei and Satsuki's house (My neighbor Totoro)" "Sosuke and Ponyo's house" "Spirited Away's Aburaya" "Pazu's working place mining field (Castle in the Sky)".

Huge sculptures of Aburaya of "Spirited Away" was the largest work in this exhibition. It was about three meters height. Huge sculptures of "Heidi" and Aburaya of "Spirited Away" had a very impressive. It is very recommended.

Hachiroemon Mitsui mansion

It is a mansion that was built in 1952. Drawing room was built in 1897, and it was relocated.

While watching the garden, walk the long corridor.

This is a drawing room. It is rare to see such old house in Tokyo.

This is a bath room. Like this bath tub is not seen anymore in Japan.

Kunio Maekawa Mansion

Contributed to the development of modern architecture of Japan, architect Kunio Maekawa mansion. It was built in 1942. Roof is a simplegable. Plum tree is beautiful.

Kyu-Jishoin mausoleum

It is a mausoleum that was built in order to memorial service the concubine of Tokugawa Iemitsu. This building has been registered in the cultural heritage of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. It was built in 1652.

Visitor Center (formerly, Koka palace)

In 1940 It was not for the "AD 2600 commemoration ceremony" that was held in the square in front of the Imperial Palace. In 1941 It was relocated to this museum. Currently it is used as a visitor center.

Kodakara-yu (Public bath)

It is a building that represents the Tokyo public bath.

It is a large public bath reminiscent of shrines ant temples. It was built in 1929.

Even now, on the walls of many of Japan's public bath, Mt Fuji picture has been drawn.

Chikara Udon (Udon with a rice cake)

I ate homemade udon noodle in the shop.

Elegant salty soy sauce soup. It is a typical udon with a rice cake and seaweed and tempura.

Built in 1925, it was used until 1970.

Manseibashi Police box

It was built in about 1910. At the time of the relocation, it was carried directly in the trailer from Manseibashi, Kanda.

Mantoku Inns

This is the Inn about in 1950. This is a general inn this era.

This is the reception desk and room of the inn.

There is a stove for cooking rice.

Goemon-buro

This is a bath called "Goemon-buro" of Japan, with a floating wooden lid on which the bather sits causing it to sink (named after the robber Goemon Ishikawa who was was boiled to death in one)

This is a tailor who was built in 1879.

This is a room of tailoring work of kimono.

Kodera soy sauce shop

It was selling miso and soy sauce and sake. It was built in 1933.

Yamato-ya (Dried foods shop)

Dried squid, egg, dried bonito, kelp and etc,

Takei Sansyo-do (Stationery shop)

It was built in 1927.

Glue, abacus, India ink etc, had been sold.

A lot of stock and residence.

Kagiya (Tavern)

It was built in 1856.

In addition to the counter seats, there is a parlor seat in the back.

Retro Cafe "Musashino Sabo" in Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum

Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum is located in the Metropolitan Koganei Park.
Site area is approximately 7 hectares. And relocated the historical culturally valuable buildings from the Edo period to the early Showa, it is a theme park that has been restored, preservation, and exhibition.
I will introduce the retro cafe "Musashino Sabo" in the de Lalande House in this museum.

It was built around 1910. It was a German architect Georg de Lalande of residence.

Then, It was relocated and restored here. There is a cafe "Musashino Sabo" in the house.

It is very calm retro cafe.

I had a tea with my best friend in this retro cafe. We ordered the special iced coffee and sweet potato parfait.

We drink by pouring the coffee to contain glass of frozen coffee ice.

Until the last drop we could enjoy a coffee flavor.

Sweet potato parfait

A confection made from sweet potatoes on the bottom.
Soft ice cream on it. In the soft ice cream, contains red bean paste and candied sweet potato.
It was a very elegant sweetness.
Original parfait of this cafe was very unique and delicious.

These days, Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum is a popular spot for home and abroad tourists. This cafe is also very recommended.

Beauty Oils For Face

Beauty Oil is a versatile item that is essential to skin care.

Livio Seguso : Venetian Master of Modern Sculpture

Outstanding glass technology in Venice about 1000 years, came inherited through the craftsmen.
Livio Seguzo (1930-) that have learned from childhood the traditional techniques of glass is to study the relationship of light and space as a modern sculpture artist, he is facing the material. Detached from the decoration techniques of traditional Venetian glass, and was fascinated to the world of sophisticated glass sculpture colorless and transparent.
Since then, transparent glass and marble and wood are different materials, a combination such as metal, it has produced a work group of hidden harmony and lyricism.
In this exhibition, I was able to see some of the work of Seguzo the glass and a variety of materials play a beautiful harmony.
